Spider veins vs varicose veins
Spider veins (telangiectasia) are small dilated surface vessels — red, purple or blue lines, most often on the face and lower legs. They are primarily a cosmetic concern. Varicose veins are larger, raised and often symptomatic, with throbbing, heaviness or swelling, and they can signal venous insufficiency requiring medical evaluation.

How many treatments will I need?
Facial vessels on the cheeks, nose, chin or forehead often improve after a single treatment. Leg spider veins usually take 1–3 treatments, occasionally 4. Fading is progressive: expect visible change within 2–6 weeks and continued clearing over 2–3 months.
Do you treat varicose veins?
No. Original You treats superficial spider veins (telangiectasia), cherry angiomas and small vascular lesions. Larger, bulging, symptomatic varicose veins need a vascular specialist and often duplex ultrasound — if that is what we see at your consultation, we will tell you and refer you rather than treat.
Does it hurt, and what is recovery like?
Patients describe a snapping or warm sensation with each pulse; surface cooling is used throughout. Facial areas take 15–30 minutes. Expect redness and mild swelling for 24–72 hours, and possible bruising for up to two weeks. Avoid vigorous exercise, heat and direct sun for the first week, and use broad-spectrum sunscreen.
Will spider veins come back?
Treated vessels are permanently closed and reabsorbed, but the underlying tendency remains — genetics, hormones, sun exposure and standing occupations can produce new vessels over time. Occasional touch-up treatments keep results looking consistent.
