What is PICO Genesis?
PICO Genesis is a picosecond laser treatment that uses 532nm and 1064nm wavelengths in ultra-short, non-thermal pulses to fragment pigment and trigger collagen remodeling in the upper dermis. It treats brown spots, sun and age spots, liver spots, melasma, hyperpigmentation, uneven tone, enlarged pores and fine lines. Sessions take 20–30 minutes with typically only 30 minutes to a few hours of redness. A series of 3 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart is recommended: $1,600 for the series (limited-time, normally $1,900) or $800 for a single treatment.

How many skin rejuvenation treatments will I need?
PICO Genesis is usually a series of 3 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart, with one or two maintenance sessions a year afterward. Laser Genesis and DiamondGlow are often done in series of 3–6. Sun and age spot removal frequently takes just 1–3 treatments.
Is PICO Genesis safe for darker skin tones?
The non-thermal, photo-mechanical mechanism is one of its advantages here: because it fragments pigment with acoustic energy rather than sustained heat, the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is lower than with thermal lasers. Dual wavelengths (532nm for superficial pigment, 1064nm for deeper) let us tailor the pass to your Fitzpatrick type, and we still use conservative settings and test spots on higher Fitzpatrick skin.
How is PICO Genesis different from IPL?
IPL is broadband light, and it works by heating. PICO Genesis is a laser delivering ultra-short picosecond pulses that penetrate deeper and disrupt pigment mechanically without significant heat. In practice that means fewer sessions for many pigment concerns, less redness afterward, and a better safety margin on skin tones where IPL is risky.
What does a PICO Genesis appointment involve?
Arrive with a clean, makeup-free face. The treatment itself takes 20–30 minutes. Expect redness for 30 minutes to a few hours; pigmented spots may darken and flake within the following week — leave them alone. Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily afterward. Three treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart are recommended, then one or two per year to maintain.
